New dental composites and adhesives that help in producing better results contain fluorophores. This feature gives a fluorescent property.
K-Lite materials can be distinguishable, under certain wavelengths of illumination, from teeth tissue. (UV-A 395 to 400nm)
So, when they need to be removed, these materials significantly reduce the risk of iatrogenic tooth damage. The K-Lite device, a groundbreaking dental, allows:
1. Removing excess or unwanted materials. For example composites or adhesives. Other examples are orthodontic bracket, attachment, and retainer, residual cement, etc.
2. K Lite use in dental trauma (Splint). And/or in the so-called FIT (Fluorescence assisted Identification Technique). These two important factors were the basic motivation for the creator, in cooperation with the company Smile Line SA, Switzerland, to develop and produce the new version of lamp K-Lite.
3. K-Lite can help in the recognition of certain bacterial byproducts found in plaque, calculus, and infected dentine.

K Lite Working
The K Lite consists of:
• a white Led that is suitable for translumination. (6000 k)
• a UV-A-LED that is calculus or plaque and makes them easier to discover; when it is directed onto composites or adhesives with fluorescent elements. In this way, the clinician can precisely remove them without iatrogenic damage.
K Lite Smile Line
Minimally nosy dentistry aims to preserve as much of the sound tooth tissue as possible. Studies have shown that clinicians are careful in removing excess or unwanted dental materials from tooth tissue. So, with little guidance, this could lead to either excess tooth tissue removal and/or to the retention of unwanted dental material.
